Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in law and admission to the Bar (or equivalent qualification) in the relevant jurisdiction is required. Master's degree in law or related field is a plus.
Experience: Minimum 10+ PQE in a legal career.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of legal principles and procedures, including contract law, corporate law, PDPA and regulatory compliance. Familiarity with litigation and intellectual property law is a plus.
Research and Analytical Skills: Excellent research and analytical abilities to gather, analyze, and interpret complex legal information and provide recommendations.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills to draft legal documents, communicate legal advice effectively, and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in legal documentation and contract management.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and build positive relationships with colleagues at all levels.
Ethical Standards: High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Passion for learning, adaptability and willingness to stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes.
Responsibilities
Risk Assessment: Identify legal risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential liabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop risk management strategies.
Legal Advice: Provide legal advice and analysis on a wide range of legal issues, statutes, regulations, and case law in making informed decisions.
Contract Management: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Maintain accurate and organized contract records.
Compliance: Assist in ensuring the company's compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Stay up to date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
Legal Documentation: Prepare legal correspondence, memos, and reports as required. Assist in maintaining legal documentation and records.
Legal Support: Provide assistance in legal proceedings, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and organizing case materials. Assist in managing litigation and external legal counsel.
Policy Development: Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Training and Education: Support legal training initiatives by developing training materials and conducting training sessions on legal topics for employees.
Collaborative Support: Work collaboratively with the SCBx counterparts and internal teams, including finance, human resources, and operations, to provide legal guidance and support on various projects and initiatives.

DataX Risk Management division is responsible for data governance, privacy, security, technology risk, operational risk, model risk, business continuity, legal and compliance. We are tasked with development and execution of risk management strategies and ensuring the integrity of our processes and the safeguarding our organization.
This role sits within Legal team of the Risk Management division. You will lead the Legal team and contribute to various legal matters. As a dynamic and innovative AI/ML startup operating in the fintech industry, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to design and development of our risk management processes in a fast-paced environment.
